My BlackBerry and I were in SFla where there's 3G. I was not impressed. Maybe too many people on the system? The browser was sloooowww. More dropped calls than in VT, too, where that hardly ever happens to me. And here everything moves lickety-split.

Does your Blackberry handle 3G? If not, it's not gonna be any faster. Also, is it AT&T?

AT&T has their problems. I don't have a problem with the voice network, but I do have a problem with their 3G coverage. Even in parts of RI it's not the best and we're a tiny state.

Yes, the BBerry Bold had 3G, one of its selling points, and I was with AT&T at the time.

Now I use a BBerry Curve because I've switched cell companies to CREDO Mobile, which I adore. They use Sprint's network. Even better service than I got with AT&T and costs me less. And CREDO's tech support blows away AT&T's -- and I'd thought AT&T's was quite good!

I donated my BBerry Bold through this program: http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/

When I lived in Vermont for 2 years (I'm from NY Syracuse area) I brought my cell phone with me which was serviced by Sprint. I lived in Marlboro and got no signals at all unless i went to the highest hills on campus and then only sporadically.

If I wanted to use my phone to call back home I had to drive 20 mins to Brattleboro where I had excellent reception. What I did was just have everyone call my landline when they needed something. It was a big pain but manageable.

Last time up I was using a BB Storm on Verizon 3G and had coverage on and off south of Route 4.

Verizon's 3G network is much more widespread and better than AT&T's. Currently, AT&T does not have any 3G coverage in VT, but it looks as though that is changing.

We get full bars on our AT&T phone at our place in the NEK and we have the Verizon MiFi for internet service and get great reception there as well, which allowes both my wife and I to log on from the cabin to handle "firedrills" at work without leaving home. Coverage is spotty in areas, but better than I would think it would be considering.
