Good day to you all. I live in Richmond (only been here 3 years) and will be relocating to northern va. The problem is that my husband will be working at the Dulles airport but I was offered a job in Gaithersburg. Where would be the place place to live to split the commute. Ill be working 8-5 and hitting heavy traffic but my husband will either work 5am-3pm or 1pm-11pm which he wont hit as much traffic as me.

Please help and tell me where is the best place to move!

What is your budget?

You might want to post this in the Northern VA sub-forum as well who may know better about where to live.

Agreed that a budget is necessary. The midpoint of your commutes is either Potomac, MD or McLean, VA, and they are the most expensive towns in the area. The rentals are likely to be luxury places.

You could also live in northwest DC where you would both be reverse-commuting.

I found that Mcclean was the midpoint but it comes at a very hefty price. I would want to stay around $1500 for a 2BR

I use hotpads.com as the easiest way to locate a place in a price range. There are a couple: The Vienna Park in Dunn Loring, a colonial-style condo in McLean, or The Circle Towers on Lee Highway in Fairfax. Of course you have to contact them about actual availablity. They would all be reasonably safe.
