I work in Germantown and live in Bethesda, but previously lived in Archstone Gaithersburg in Gaithersburg and Rollins Park in Rockville. Both were reasonably priced complexes, close to 270 & Metro stations and fairly safe.

For Germantown and Gaithersburg, there are areas good and bad areas. I would definately avoid the ones directly by Lakeforest Mall, and some of the complexes near Old Town Gaithersburg. My company does short term leasing for contract employees and transferees in Germantown at the Pinnacle, Milestone and the Gables and all of them have been satisfied with these areas.

However; if you want to go to DC on the weekends, I would look in Rockville since there's much more to do and there is easier access to DC. There are several by the Twinbrook & White Flint Metro that will likely fit your criteria.

Although technically its a little late, I just signed a lease at Kings Farm. Can anyone confirm or deny that the area is safe? I read the reviews at apartment ratings and got mixed feelings....can anyone shed any light? Thanks!

I haven't spent any time at King Farm, but I have been around there a lot. I haven't seen anything that would suggest it is unsafe.

My niece owns a TH in there and it's pretty safe so far. We've also had at least 4 or 5 social events at the club house without incident.
