More details came out yesterday. Japan only said it would offer to loan about half the anticipated contruction costs for the DC to Baltimore segment, about $4 billion in loans.

This article notes the estimated $8 billion in construction costs for the DC to Baltimore is unrealistic, especially for an unproven technology. Japan maglev: $8 billion construction cost is laughably low.

This isn't the great deal people are making it out to be.
