i dont see the difference both Catania and Bowser represent (and will work primarily for) the gentrifier class.....both fully support the ultimate goal of turning DC into another Seattle or San Francisco.....
I called it more than 5 years ago. DC is turning into San Francisco. Tech jobs, the growing LBGT community, the legalization of marijuana, and the push for mass transit and amenities for cyclists.
I predict something very different: Catania 41% to Bowser's 40%. Schwartz and any write-ins split the rest.
My prediction rests heavily on heavier turnout of the "new to DC voter" and perhaps the propensity of new white voters to prop up a gay independent candidate. It really is a toss-up.

I voted for Catania but at the end of the day, Bowser will be an okay mayor. She can't really create any new ideas for herself so I foresee her mostly keeping the status quo which so far is pushing us in the right direction.
Wow! All indications were that Catania would put up a fierce competition. Man was I (and the polls)wrong! I'm amazed at how few people turned out to vote...even more amazed at how few people voted for Catania. Talk about voter apathy!
Elections have consequences. Fenty-In-A-Dress is what you folks asked for, so that's what you'll get!

I know plenty about DC politics. What I underestimated was the level of apathy in DC, especially in this day and age of gentrification, new young white transplants, and the general notion that Fenty-In-A-Dress would actually be preferrable to those who actually hated Fenty!
Talk about apathy! If what you'r asking me is "Do you realize how apathetic DC truly is?" The answer is "NO!"

About the same turnout as other off-year elections. The result was way different from from what you claimed would happen.
