^^Where you live, there is usually snow at least a couple of times during winter. The higher up in elevation, the deeper the snow.

There was a White Christmas 2 or 3 years ago.

There was also “Snowmageddon” 2 or 3 years ago, when Sequim recorded most snowfall in the state. The town isn’t prepared for that much snow, so everything pretty much stopped for a day or two.

I only wish people knew how to drive in it. A few years ago I came from work in Port Hadlock to 101 to see multiple car crashes, upside-down cars, vehicles in the ditch. I thought all hell had broken loose, but it was just a couple of inches of snow on a mid-afternoon weekday.

Having lived in Idaho, Alaska, and Illinois I find these quarter inch reports or snow that melts soon after falling amusing. But such is common in an area that normally doesn’t get much snow (until it does!) Then all hell breaks lose! And this actually happens about 1 out of 5 years. Fun with snowfall in western washington!

I appreciate your comment. I grew up in the SoCal desert where we got about 1” of snow every 3 years or so. It would paralyze the town, and there was no school, and marauding kids everywhere, throwing snow/sand balls, one of my favorite childhood memories.

This is nothing. In 1996, we had 3’+ dumped at our place. We lost 4 outbuildings when the temps warmed up with rain. Whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp. Thankfully, we had replacement insurance. But, out in the county where Northeasters prevail, it was nasty: 20’ drifts, roads closed, people told to stay home unless necessary, local 4x4 rescue group delivering food, formula and diapers. We do get these from time to time. But, they are infrequent enough that people forget.

I live in Federal Way, we got a slushy dusting, I was actually surprised that some patches in the shade lasted the whole day.

Just depends where you live. How much snow you get.
When i was stationed in Everett we had one really good snow storm come through dropped a foot of snow 1998 December time frame. But snow was gone after three days. Then i did not see another snow day for two years.
So it depends where you live how long it snows and if there are repeat storms.

This morning our front lawn still only has a few bits of green showing. It faces north so no sun, and that snow has still not melted (28F this morning). Everything else is bare now.

Where I am at it doesn’t snow much and I know that .
This little 1/4” thing here means a bit more just up 101 a bit.

I was here for the snomaggeden thing.
I loved it and still have some great pics of it.

Some of my friends were totally socked in.

My kid lives and works for a large company here.
This is her second or third winter here.
When the roads are snowy, icy or just plain dangerous her company sends out a driver with a 4x4 or something like that to give her a ride to and from work.

How awesome is that?
I mean who does that?
Nobody ever did that for me .

It make me feel good that people are that nice here.

It never snows in Western Washington, but when it does it pours! (Albert Hammond "It Never Rains In Southern California") In other words, Western Washington does get major snow, occasionally...
