I haven't got any long terma ccurate figures but the following is an approximation.

Avg high for Dec, Jan, Feb, °C
Min / Max

1 / 6
0 / 5

Tonight we could be heading toward the lowest temperature I've ever recorded in my personal weather records for the location, and the coldest temperature here in over 20 years. It's already down to 17°F at 19:37.

I find these kinds of variations very interesting and it's one of the things that attracts me to keeping such records, the fact you never know what it will be like at a certain time of year from one year to the next.

Hmm. Your winter is quite a bit warmer than mine, but not so much compared to NYC. The night temps are definitely warmer than the day temps about the same (within a degree). And since NYC averages about 50% + sunshine in the winter and has far fewer precipiation days than Buxton, Buxton probably feels much colder.

17F must feel interesting to someone who's never experienced it. I experienced 10F yesterday; with wind (was at 4000ft).

I don't know what the lowest is I've experienced. I've been on skiing holidays in Switzerland and experienced some even lower temps in all likelihood but didn't know what the actual figure was. Lowest I've been out in here in Buxton is -10°C / 14°F.
