Ok, i like the A/C when its 100 degrees out, but can someone please tell me why, on a beautiful 85 degree day, our office is so cold that i have to wear not one but two sweaters to work? I don't understand people who complain all winter long about how they hate winter, and then they turn the A/C freezing cold at the first hint of humidity. Enjoy the summer, people! You waited all winter for it. Obviously if you are a person who LIKES winter, then it would make sense that you like the A/C. But so many people complain about winter and then blast the A/C all summer.
Those types of people want temperatures in the 60s/70s all year long. Why else would the California coast be so desirable (and, I would guess, the most expensive region in the US)? They hate cold temperatures, but temperatures a little warmer than room temperature aren't desirable for them either. Weird people, aren't they?
Your office doesn't have A/C? Even for London, I'm slightly surprised.

The temperature usually is not to high, and people like to open window or get a vent if needed. However I did notice increased amount of window units lately.

That works well when its over 30°C/ 86°F outside of course.
I didn't say I support AC here, we would use it only a few days per year. But you gotta admit that opening the windows in an air conditioned bus when it's 98F outside is rather weird. And opening the window in your house/office will only let warmer air in unless the room temp is in the high 90s, which is unlikely.

I hate wasting my money on spring/summer clothes that I can't wear to work. And I hate wearing my fall/winter clothes in the spring/summer only to sweat all over them when I leave the office.

My sentiments exactly..turn off the AC.. I'm tired of freezing my backside off all winter. It's summer open the windows and breath !

Maybe not - when is over 30C most European houses, apartments, and businesses use simple green home building ideas to keep their spaces cool in summer instead of the air conditioning so common in the U.S. These include roll down screens, patio shading, double windows, and more. European countries, have been the frontrunners in conserving energy and using green home building for decades.

N0t in ENgland, but in otherr parts of Europe its very common. Everywhere I've been in Italy and Portugal had AC even in homes and villas but those are hot hot climates in summer.
