Down comes the rain.. away goes the snow. Hopefully we'll see another wintry episode in February.

Heck they're possible even until mid-April, look at the blizzard last year.

True. I am hoping for a snowy March, they have been rare since March 2008 when we had a white Easter. Then I'm hoping for some warmth in April and hopefully thunderstorms (yeah right).

Ice event possible for us here Monday. Very light precip so not expecting power outages but we all know a tiny bit of ice creates a messy commute.

Here's a good picture to help understand how freezing rain happens. Pretty simple... Snow comes down from the clouds, warm air moves in from the south but warms up a layer above us first to above freezing, so a layer of warm air melts the snow to rain, while a small layer at the surface is still below freezing so the rain turns to ice. If the layer at the surface is thick enough it ends up being sleet instead.

Nice day. Sunny, breezy, and in the mid-20s.

Sorry it may take a little time for the pics to load. I should probably reduce the size. Still getting used to this Android.

Wet day in Phoenix with 0.83 in of rain falling so far. Flood Advisory in effect.

Didn't realize this, but four nights in a row fell below freezing this month. Phoenix averages 0.8 nights below freezing per year.

Thanks for the diagram! Warnings were for southern half of the state but they changed to bring the line further north. Tomorrow we wait and see if it is a snow event, or rain/sleet/ice, or all of them!
