Try cold damp socks, it worked with me. I'm sure you've already tried the majority of cooling tricks anyway!

Didn't you have a heatwave in December as well? Anyway congrats, you'll sleep like a baby from now on.

Yesterday morning saw the temp drop to -2.0 C, the 2nd lowest temp since records began 150 years ago (beaten by 2008's -2.6 C).

In stark contrast to BA, it has been an exceptionally cold month here. Max / min temps MTD:

19.7 / 8.9
23.5 / 11.7
24.5 / 6.8
10.3 / 2.5
14.2 / 2.8
11.5 / 5
11.4 / 3.1
14.7 / -2

Beautiful blue dome day today. From dawn to dusk there was literally not a cloud in the sky. High around 18 C, so about average. Feels quite warm after the last week of cold temps.

So, a low of -2c in your place is comparable of a low of -2c in june 9th here!

Goodness me, that must be record low for your latitiude. We record ground frosts in june but rarely air frosts, maybe once every 5 years or something. Not sure, but we recorded one this year.

Yeah, Christchurch sure does record very cold temperatures for the time of year, outside of winter anyway. -2C is the lowest I have personally recorded in October, but June.. I don't remember the last time an air frost occurred in June.. might be never for all I know.

Pretty sure November 9th is equivalent to May 9th in the northern hemisphere. Still, -2C is an impressive 11C below average for Christchurch.

You're right - I can't believe I missed that! I've been comparing months here to the SH all year.

A -2C low is not record-breaking here in May, far from it.

Finally! At 12.45 pm (or am? I always confuse it when specifically referring to noon) temp is 18.2 C. I wanted to open my windows wide to let the cool air in, but the problem is it's pouring down so I don't want my appartment to get flooded.

So, inside my appartment it's still quite warm, and I still have the fan on, so I'll have to wait till it stops raining to open the windows wide. Actually, I've opened a tiny gap but it's not enough.

Well, yes, now that I think of it "ante meridiem" and "post meridiem"... it just makes sense that is PM. From now on, I'll think of that to remember.

You know, over here we don't use the AM/PM distinction, but rather something like "in the morning", "In the afternoon", etc.
