You're getting it all wrong! Think of 10C during March in York after a winter with 6C all the time. Feels like nothing. Figure a 10C in March in Finland, it feels like heaven after those -5C days!
But you're all so drunk and probably about to kill yourself, who will be there to appreciate it?
That was in response to Owen's comment about the hill behind his house.
London winters are not foggy btw, and it spends more time sunny than raining, even in December! The south coast has had months with over 80% sunshine before, I think London has had months over 75% as well if you adjust the numbers to WMO standard rather than using raw CS numbers.
Ok, sorry for my outburst then. 75% would mean 372 hours of sun in London, 417 in Turku. It doesn't seem impossible.

I'm still here, and ain't committing suicide. But being drunk relieves the pressure and miserability in winter. And summer. And spring. And autumn. And casual sex. And gin tonics. And Karelian hot pot. Just forget the 'allspice' and add some cayenne instead.
Heathrow's sunniest month was May 1989 which recorded 310 hours with CS (65%). Adjusting that value to 120W/m2 gives 360 hours which is 75%.
The sunniest month on record in the UK was in July 1911 when Eastbourne recorded 384 hours. London recorded 334 hours that month (around 387 hours at 120W/m2). That month also saw Greenwich record a temp of 38.1C (now discounted).

OK! The monthly record of Turku is 442 hours (July) with the 120W/m2 which gives 79.5% of the possible. In hours on London's latitude it would be 404 in July. So 387 hours is a quite impressing value. "London is foggy and rainy all the time".
I did an experiment for Memphis as a 1991-2020 average using what it is so far. Winters are A LOT warmer with the Spring slightly warmer with summer and fall slightly cooler. Now your climate would be a C for me, winters and summers are too cool.
Sunny hours in December: 52.0
Rainy hours in December: 44.6
It's cloudy most of the time, but it's still more common to see the sun than it is to get rained on.
