Much cooler by the lake today. A measly 19C at Northerly Island (Loop). Reached 26C at ORD and 28C at MDW. Was over 30C for most of the south suburbs including by me
Just watched my local 9PM weather update. Tom Skilling (met icon of mine) suggested closer to 90 degrees on Sunday.
Forecast for ORD
Either way, a very tropical like weekend in Chicagoland...
I think that's overdone. Regardless, it is much more pleasant here only 90 miles to the north. My extended forecast at this point is pretty much all 70s for highs with a couple days of thunderstorms in there. Much better.
Not exactly a meaningful comparison, since either you have a breeze off the Lake to work with or are inherently closer/more exposed to the source of cool shots in northern Canada.
Would be interesting to compare. Usually here we goto 2c.
No you do not 'usually' go to 2C. That is below our record low June min, and if anything you are milder than us.
It's interesting how low the ne US can get at night in summer.. in an average summer we might get a low of 7c or 8c in June but for the mostpart our lows stay above 10c after mid June

Worth repeating. This summer the focus continues to be trough over Aleutian Islands and what's happening in northwest Atlantic. Its going to struggle to go over or stay above 90 in the northeast. I say north of Philly. I still say we'll get heatwaves but not intense or long lasting.
So enjoy the 70s and 80s out there this summer. This pattern should last through July into August.
I also think I said if your not a fan of cold weather you better hope the pattern changes by October.
