The temp creeped up a bit today, it's 24C right now. Still cooler than the predicted low, so I'll keep everything shut all night long.
@donar: I can't believe your place is already nearing 30C. What hellish indoors temps did you endure last summer?
^^ I didn't have a thermometer back then but it was hellish indeed. A heat trap par excellence, under the roof and practically no air circulation as the next wall is only 3 m away. When I open the window I get nothing but mosquitoes This is definitely the last summer here, though.

Is it that hard to install screens? You can always add one of these even if the frame doesn't support a separate screen
yeah I had them but eventually they were broken and I was too lazy to install new ones. Last summer I slept with open windows nevertheless although it barely cooled down the room. Aircraft noise is another big issue here, it starts at 5 AM so it's sometimes a tough decision.
During the worst nights I didn't sleep in this room though.

Uhh, are they bad there this year?
Was there last year all summer and had only 1 or 2 in four months of being there.
Slept with the window full open without a screen whenever it wasn't raining.

Is this a cultural thing or what? I've never seen window screens in Europe but they are ubiquitous in North America. Do Europeans like bugs or something?
