Ah. Owen will get to experience the non-AC subway platforms of NYC. And if he gets a heat wave... Says he won't find it hot

That's what was so lovely about the Paris Metro - it being so nice and cool in both the stations and trains. I'd not been able to cope if it was hot. To be honest, the friendly temperatures was the linchpin of having a wonderful time over there and an awful one - if it was 30+ degrees, I'd been totally and utterly miserable - I'd been happier to stay home at that point. Heat just takes the fun and energy out of everything.

Summer is just an awful season anywhere, but I think it's worse in the big cities - all that asphalt and concrete, those enclosed spaces, the crowds - all of that makes the heat that much worse. I want no part of it...lol.

One thing to be happy about after today - closing out the month of June - finally!

Still two long months of high summer left, but it's better than three...lol. Just gotta take it one day at a time...

Three good months, three good months. Though October can be nice, it's not the same. Three months still is a lot, hopefully will make the most of it.

That's because summer's a much more gentle season up there - you'd not be saying that if you lived down here...lol.

The heat has a nasty way of chasing me up north when I travel - I'm hoping the Paris trip was the trend-breaker. The true test will be when I go north in August - whether or not I can truly leave the heat behind by way of seeking a higher latitude.

You should go to northern New England, too. I can give travel suggestions for upstate NY, have you spent time in the finger lakes?

Yeah, I do wanna do that sometime as well.

The Finger Lakes region is awesome - such beautiful country. I love those massive, undulating hills with those long sight distances. I've been to Ithaca a couple of times, and I've done a boat trip out of Skaneateles - that was fun.
