im surprised authorities would alow motorists (motorcycles?) drive up to San Bernardino mountains. If not motorcycles, still, to drive up to the mountains, they should wait till snow stops dropping as Californians aren't familiar with these conditions.

There were many reports of "snow" falling in Malta today as well, but what fell in my own back garden was soft hail or graupel. All photos & mobile phone footage posted on Facebook was also obviously soft hail, but to the unsuspecting Maltese it is snow...

It was below zero this morning, -1F/-18C, even though there is no snow to be seen. First chance for snow is Saturday so the month will finish with 0.1" snow.

It's strange how it didn't snow at the foot of lake Elsinore, nor at the mountain peaks of the santa Ana mountains, that is quite strange.

Would love to look into why but I'm too lazy. lol The picture shows snow did fall around and near the Lake but the aerial footage will deceive you since its hard to see a lighter amount. Lighter of course since it probably didn't accumulate as fast as the slopes of the mountain and there was some melting. What is the water temp of the Lake there? Another reason why maybe it melted before the picture was taken or didn't accumulate at the edges of the Lake.

As far as the tops.. would have to look more into it. Does look lighter at the tops there. Wind? Downslope snows?

Latest EURO12z.

850mb temps & anomalies Sunday morning on left, Thursday morning next week on right.

We're going from Well above to Well below. And to add today we are below normal.

If it wasn't for a Great Lakes storm track we wouldn't be having the up day.

I think it has to do with rain patterns. My baldy has lots of snow on its peak while Mt. San Antonio next door doesn't have any snow, not in the foothills not in the slopes and not in its peak, also snow in the santa Ana's suddenly stops heading into the Irvine foothills. So I think it didn't rain in those regions.

I have friends there. Plenty of snow, west side of Lake Elsinore today. Surreal.
