50's are very rare here in summer. Perhaps low-mid 60's for relief. CNJ sees low-mid 50's a week every summer.

It usually cools down significantly when a thunderstorm hits during the summer here, and the cool down often lasts for the rest of the day. On August 25, it went from 97 F (36.1 C) at 3:40 PM to 76 F (24.4 C) at 4:05 PM. After the storm, the temperature did not exceed 25 C the rest of the day.

Afternoon thunderstorms don't happen here much. Mostly night, or early morning -like the one happening now.
