I think here anymore than 3cm to 5cm people get scared. Like February 2009 people were tripping down Waterloo Station haha its sad really...

But when the snow here settles its always our first snow and normally our last before the Atlantic misery comes back. Though winter 2012/2013 was weird that we saw multiple snow events that settled.

Normal. Here is a few snow events each winter but we can get snow lasting a few weeks.

Unusual for snow to cause chaos here. December 2010 was the first time true chaos ensued and the buses stopped running for one day. Had to walk home 4 miles.

I really can't get it when I read the papers and schools close in England with an inch of snow. Schools there seem to close alot and we get more snow and my school only closed once.

Schools usually close because teachers don't bother coming in, or parents don't bother taking their kids due to the snow. It really depends on the area more than anything.

I'd say schools would close more in rural areas in the south where people have to travel far..
