Well, that's definitely not true, as it reached 32C here in August 2003, which is admittedly lower than the 38C in London, but that's a 6C difference. If it's 13C here and 25C in London, that's a 12C difference. That is definitely not a common occurrence.

Conversely, it reached 24C here in April 2011, and 27C in London, which is more what you would expect. Also, it reached 25C in London in April 2007 and 23C here, again, more typical.

2015 Average Temp Update. Period from Jan 1 to Apr 13.

It's still the coldest on record for many folks.. Here's just Syracuse, Worcester, Providence and Bridgeport.

28.3°F for Providence? Wow.
Bridgeport 29.6°!?

If we don't have some well above normal months, we might end up coldest or Top 5 coldest years this year.

I was talking about the hot spell as a whole, not just one particular day. Hot spells here usually climax earlier and then disappear, while in London they continue for a little longer. But at the moment, we can't even exceed 20C. Look at all other April 'warm spells' and you'll see that we've never been 13C cooler than London.. lol. We're usually only a few degrees cooler at most. Heck, our highest temp in April 2003 was higher than London's (just).

Yeah, that's why most of us outside the SE don't view August 2003 as favourably. August 1995 and August 1990 were much better nationwide. August 1995 will always be the best in my eyes.

It must have been where the warm front stalled. I know London doesn't have any major bodies of water to give it a micro climate, but during the spring here it's been as low as 4C on the lakeshore and a mere 15-20 miles inland it can be 27C+

Example
