Depends what you call lucky. I am amazed at the power of these storms. I'm just glad that the Midwest is a huge place with a lot of open land where most of these tornadoes form. If that EF4 which rolled through the northwestern edge of Chicagoland was a mere 20 miles east, we could be here talking about mass casualties

62F/17C at ORD and 64F/18C at MDW with 100% sunshine today.... My suburb also reached 64F/18C

Tomorrow (Greek Easter) a bit warmer and cloudier slight chance of a late day shower.

Forecast the next seven days for Chi/ORD

No leaves on trees so surface can warm up more.
Go out and Plant some trees this year.

NWS Boston. I almost thought they were saying heat will escape the surface because of no leaves. Am I interpreting them right?

MONDAY

THE WARMEST OF THIS THREE DAY STRETCH THANKS TO RETURN FLOW
BEHIND EXITING HIGH PRES. IN SPITE OF BUILDING HIGH CLOUDS AND
SOME DIURNAL CUMULUS...

WILL LIKELY SEE HIGHS REACH THE UPPER 60S AND
LOW 70S ACROSS THE AREA WITH 850MB TEMPS BETWEEN +8C AND +10C. GIVEN NO LEAFOUT YET...ALL THE HEATING WILL GO INTO THE
ATMOSPHERE ENHANCING THE CHANCES FOR 70S TO BE OBSERVED.

DRY WX PREVAILS. THE RETURN FLOW LOOKS STRONG ENOUGH TO LIMIT SEA BREEZE DEVELOPMENT FOR EASTERN COASTLINES

No leaves absorbing the sun's energy, so all of it goes into warming the air.

Normalcy Jet

Add High Pressure in Mid Atlantic and you get a south flow of warm air moving into the north east.

Pathetic that London forecast is warmer. You keep going on about how cool London is, but so far this year it is far warmer than Chicago. They are going to hit 75F this week, and your locale can barely manage 68F. Again, North America climate fail due to that giant ice box of Canada.

Frost Advisories were out for South NJ, PA, Northern VA and Maryland..

Current 7:30am temps. 30s down to Virginia. Purely from Radiational cooling. I dropped to 33F (as usual the middle temp between Danbury and Bridgeport)

Chicago doesn't manage to equal London's average highs until about this time of year.
