Top 2 for Saturday-Sunday
Bottom 2 for Monday-Tuesday
1st storm moves so fast that you don't see its location with their forecast here because 7am Sat its over NC. 7am Sunday its over Nova Scotia already. So Saturday 7pm should be off MA coast.
Overnight models trended towards a warmer air aloft.
Trend is your friend and the trend this winter has been an easy warming aloft. I LOST COUNT!
GFS6z 850mb temps and MSLP. This isn't showing the precip but Anyone south of that freezing line is NOT snow for this time frame. Anyone north is too far away from the heavier precip.
So could be snow to rain/ice/sleet to snow scenario now. Ridiculous! I'm hoping to get at least 2" out of this huge coastal!
Always best to see a loop to understand what's happening.
Heres an animation from the latest NAM6z update for Sat 4am to Sun 1am.
Light Blue lines is the Surface pressure
Dark Blue line = 32° at surface
Orange = 40°
Red = 60°
Shades = 850mb temps
So basically storm comes off North Carolina, watch the warm air aloft push north and eventually go above freezing over NJ,CT,Eastern MA.
Then watch that darker blue line. Stays in the 30s all day but notice NYC at one point for couple hours it's above freezing at 850mb but the surface is at or below freezing still. Ice!
Let me know if the image is not there or not looping!
