Well....we're off. A late winter start.. a lot of teases... but overnight models all coming into agreement on coastal snowstorms, which is not something we've seen much all winter. Activity across the board picking up.

First... a clipper yesterday dropped very light snows to parts of MidWest and Ohio Valley.
Today.. another clipper/shortwave dropping snows into the Northeast

Saturday a Coastal NorEaster with enough cold air around to bring the first snowstorm to Northeast
Tuesday yet another coastal storm coming up potentially bring another snowstorm to same areas and maybe even south more.

A look at the overnight updates for 3 main models.

Sat 1pm Top 3. Monday 7pm Bottom

Just to point out a quick difference.. Look at South Jersey on the Top left (GFS) and the middle (Canadian). GFS is warmer with the 850mb freezing line closer to Philly. Canadian its snow to the coast for this time frame. Also note, Euro is a tad slower with the system.

It could snow for high elevations of SouthEast on Monday as the system comes up the coast

I know you all like the snow maps.

Here's what the Canadian model says for snowfall this weekend. If you look at the Middle Top image I posted earlier you can see why. It's a colder/snowier solution. 6-12" snowstorm for many

Yup, Its called being conservative and scared as I always see. Plus still 3-5 days out so no point in going over exacts yet. We all know things can change just the day before. Potential is there for snow for central NJ and that's what we should keep an eye on. That area and coast is ALWAYS tough to call snow until a day before. Keeps us on our toes. Lol

There's our potential Nor'Easter over the SouthWest. Right now it's dropping a foot of snow over New Mexico and Texas where Winter Warnings are issued. That will dive down, pick up some Gulf moisture and head off the coast and up.

Current Snow Total Forecast for the U.S & Close up from NWS Amarillo Texas just till Friday. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/graphicast.php?site=ama&gc=2
