February 2015 Temp and Snow Stats for 25 Locations.
Some interesting and amazing results out there.
Just to list a few... Chicago had the coldest February. And only 9 other months were colder in 142 yrs on record.. 3rd snowiest February
Great compilation as usual!
All three main D.C. area climo sites had a larger-than-normal diurnal range, i.e. the strength of February's cold was due more to frigid lows and less so lack of daytime warmth. For example, BWI's mean low for the month (15.6F) was the coldest for Feb and 2nd in any month (after Jan 1977); the mean high (35.1F) ranks as a weaker 7th for the month and 17th all-time.

I just checked Chicago. Its period of record is too short, if you go back earlier, this February (18.1°F) was nowhere near record. For some reason the NCDC only lists years 1980 and later, site move?
Thanks! Yeah, that's something I plan on doing as well, the minimum temp avg looks impressive. Snowpack as well.
Same here, I'm not posting mine in detail until the Amherst CO-OP fills in its data, its missing a day. But at the moment the monthly average min is -2.1°F, previous record was -0.7°F in January 1970. Maximum wasn't close to record breaking; record is 22.9°F [Feb 1934] this month was 25.2°F.
The average temperature in Pittsburgh in February 2015 was 18.3°F, which is a -12.8°F departure from normal. This makes it the second-coldest February on record, and the fourth-coldest month on record. The only colder months were January 1977 (11.4°F), January 1940 (17.4°F), and February 1979 (18.0°F). Low temperatures were below 10°F on 16 out of 28 days, including seven days with low temperatures below 0°F. The low temperature on February 20 was -10°F, which was the first -10°F reading since January 2009, and also the latest in the winter season that it's ever been so cold.
The average daily temperature in Pittsburgh in February was above normal for only five days, and below normal for the other 23, including 18 days that were at least 10°F below normal, 10 days that were at least 20°F below normal, and four days that were at least 30°F below normal. In fact, the average daily temperature has been below normal since February 10, which is an ongoing streak of 19 consecutive days. Snowfall for the month totaled 15.4", which is above normal, but not among the 20 snowiest Februaries on record.
