I suspect this law came into being after there was problems with Jehovah's Witnesses and other kooks preventing their children from receiving urgent medical care.
My dad told me a story about a kid in his school who had a curable condition, but died because his parents wouldn't allow him to receive medical treatment.
Makes sense, but the hospital wasn't offering any additional care. Just saying it would preserve "dignity".
They are doing what is best for the baby, not the parents. The parents are obviously going to be very upset but this is probably for the best.
The parents are trying to find an alternate way to help the baby, the hospital isn't offering a better cure. What right do they have to stop the parents?
I don't think taking him to a quack doctor who wants to experiment on him is in the best interests of the child's welfare. Or that of the parents, who are going to be ripped off.
The parents are desperate to save their baby, as you would be, but medical experts have told them there is no hope. They are clinging onto a miracle cure which doesn't exist. The courts have decided in favour of the baby, to end the suffering (the baby is being kept alive only by a machine) rather than the parents. The baby is a person too & as such has rights, it doesn't "belong" to the parents in the sense they can do whatever they want with it...
What is there to lose though? I just don't think it's the court's decision to make, especially not when another hospital is willing to take the baby in.
Leftish English morals.the Same ones who agree with Euthanasia.
English morals? It was the European Court of Human Rights that made the final decision.
