The new Clarion hotel is open in Central Helsinki. I mentioned it before, and why it's special is that the City of Helsinki has been quite negative about high-rise buildings in the centre. Clarion is a sort of a pathfinder in taller structures. IMO would've looked nicer with a few more stories.

lol

You should have provided a translation, I would guess that most of the forum doesn't know what it says unless they've watched the movie.

These were my words when I first saw the final plans. I was like "meh, unsure" but now I like it. I think it's the kind of building you have to grow to like the more you see it.

The waterfront is getting a real nice facelift. In 2005 it was a shabby worn out area with poorly maintained buildings and ship containers. The new passenger terminal is being built and expected to be completed in April 2017.

That hotel is quite bad IMO, the materials look cheap. I should know because a lot of crap like that exists here.

Although on looking at it more closely, it isn't terrible and I've seen a lot worse. And always good to see former industrial areas put to good use.

Here, a 40 storey building has been submitted for planning permission, and it would become not only the tallest building in Leeds but also the entire region. On SSC it's been described as 'Manhattan-like' because it is tall and slender, like a lot of the skyscrapers being built in New York (but the ones in NY are much taller of course).

This scheme is being built right now, and I think it's my favourite in the city. It's inspired by the eco-friendly housing in cities like Copenhagen.
