The difference in temperatures between the coast and inland is exaggerated, what Observatory Hill loses in the daytime it makes up for at night, it's summer mean (81-10) is the same as Bankstown and only slightly less than Richmond and the Airport. Sydney is not like LA, the difference is not that dramatic. Over the course of the year Observatory Hill is the warmest station in Sydney.

As to the question, it's possible that Boston's short, sharp summers would feel hotter because the rest of the year is so much colder.

But not here, so what are some of the issues?

Wow, much more common than in Melbourne. I wonder why Ethereal acts like it's a big deal then.

Talk about a "fail whale for its latitude". Sydney is at the latitude of Atlanta.

Boston Logan is on the ocean as well.

I give the slight edge to Boston.
