I like cities that have micro climates or weather changes in short distances. What are your thoughts.

Rapid City South Dakota.
Although they experience snow and cold, they (unlike the rest of South Dakota) benefit from the Chinook Winds which can make their temperature flucuate widely (even within a given day)

I believe Rapid City is in Guiness World Book for their wild temperature swings within hours.

Rapid City-----Jan 22,1943--temp rose 49 degrees in 2 minutes (a record)
--------------Jan 10,1911-temp dropped 47 degrees in 5 minutes (a record)

I read that Hot Springs Arkansas has many "micro climates" within its city limits due to varios elevations, dips, etc.

Just about any town or city that is right on an ocean or one of the Great Lakes. Much cooler in the summer and usually warmer in the winter than the surrounding areas. I have seen a 20 degree drop in the summer, in a 3 mile drive.

I don't really consider it to be a city, but I find that Laredo, Texas is pretty unique as far as tempeature ranges. Laredo is in the SW corner of south Texas where it is naturally going to be warmer. However, I've noticed their temerpatures during the late winter and spring are sometimes higher than many so called warm weather locations during the summer!

Laredo often checks in as having the hottest temperatures in the nation during February, March, and April. Just a couple of weeks ago, it was in the upper 90s. I've also seen their temps in March & April soar well into the 100s. This place isn't even a desert! What's really strange is their summer high temps remain mostly in the 90s ... which is often cooler than their springs!

The Rio Grande Valley of deep South Texas.

You have the Gulf of Mexico to the east which can deliver hurricanes and extremely humid weather. Then you have very tall mountains to the west in Mexico which can deliver extremely hot and dry weather.

There are often wide temperature swing between the Upper Valley and Lower Valley. Temeperatures in Brownsville can be in the mid-80s, while temperatures in McAllen can be in the low-100, and they're both in the same metro area.

That's my Rapid City! I never know what to wear! It's supposed to be 62 degrees today then drop back to 35 tomorrow...

When we retired I put a LOT of emphasis on weather. We moved to Lenoir NC which is protected by the mountains. It has to have the best weather pattern east of California. We can go for a motorcycle ride in the forties, park the bike, jump in the car, drive thirty miles and go snow skiing! We get no snow here yet one hour's drive away they got ten inches of snow.
In the summer if he gets a little warm we jump on the bike and head to the mountains for cooler temps.

A friend of mine lived in Melbourne and she told me weather is extremely unpredictable, changing from low 50s and rain one day to something like 105 and sun the next day, but also it changes a lot during the day.
