There. This is much better. Not a click bait crap post like CWG did that throws meteorologists under a bus.

You’re right...I checked, you know your Maryland.

Cumberland, MD is interestingly warmer than Hagerstown, even though it is farther west, more in the mountains.
Cumberland average highs are very similar to DC ...some months even warmer!

Hagerstown.......Cumberland.........Washington,DC
38/23.........jan.....41/22.......jan........43/29
41/26.........feb.....46/24.......feb........47/31
51/32.........mar.....58/32......mar........56/38
63/43.........apr......68/41......apr.........67/47
72/52.........may.....77/51......may.......75/57
81/61.........jun......85/60.......jun........84/66
85/66.........jul.......89/65.......jul.........88/71
83/64.........aug.....88/63.......aug.......87/70
75/56.........sep.....80/55.......sep........79/62
65/44.........oct......69/43.......oct........68/51
54/36.........nov.....57/54.......nov........58/41
42/27.........dec.....45/27.......dec........47/33

Hagerstown is cooler for sure, though Cumberland lows are one degree cooler most months,
not surprisingly DC has much warmer lows...strong UHI.
Cumberland is in a pretty deep, rather developed, valley, so we get some heat island effect as well. Normally the breezes from the ridge tops cool us down at night, hence the low temperature differences. Summer days in the 90s, and nights in the mid 60s are the norm.....not too bad all things considered.

Ridge tops and rural valleys don't get as warm as the city limits, and if you head west about 12 miles past the Allegheny Front, you might as well be in a different world as far as winter weather goes.

Most of the 6 or 7 inches (that were not plowed into high piles) we got here in NE NJ (Bergen Cty) were gone yesterday after the sun came out and we got up to the low 50’s.

That would not have happened so quickly in January or February. Right now, the sun angle is the same as September.

Yeah, pretty quick melting yesterday. Hit 51° max here yesterday.

Here's 4 stills from my roof camera. Only 4.6" fell but all gone in few hours. You can see the north facing side of the roof took longer than the south.
