Thanks for the information and weather maps! Very interesting.
We're in DC Metro - Northern Virginia. I crave a warm winter, after last one. Last winter lasted For. Ever. It started being cold in November, with relentless 17-25 mph winds, driving the wind chill into low teens. By Christmas it was unbearable. That cold and wind lasted through March. Just. Awful.
I really hope those models are right: the most recent one showed that Northern Virginia stands a good chance of having a warmer than normal winter. Dare I hope?
I just saw the farmers almanac predictions for this winter and they really diverge in their predictions, one says cold and dry the other cold and snowy and one says warmer and wetter, while another says mild with near normal rainfall and snowfall, will be interesting to see which one gets it right.
The first winter weather advisories are issued by the NWS anywhere in the Lower 48 for the upcoming snow season. Early June was the last time a winter weather advisory was issued in the Lower 48 as a late-season weather system brought snow to the West. https://weather-com.cdn.ampproject.o...ontana-wyoming
