Sunny, hazy, hot, and humid. Temp 91F, feels like 97F. I went out at lunch to take the trash in and sweep a little and man it is toasty. Tonight will be 69 and muggy.
Won't last long though, by Monday highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's. The roller coaster ride continues.
Unusual April storms in Southern California. San Diego has exceeded their average rainfall for the water year. SF is still way behind and no storms there. They are predicting a great wildflower season in Southern California.
Phew, were lucky that we've missed out on summer here. It got to 83f in late Feb, but it was bone dry. People were crying and saying that it was summer, but those ppl are clueless. That felt like a standard spring day around here.
58f cloudy, breezy Fresno CA @3:45pm
70s return soon
Yeah last year topped at 16.8C (my closest station). Very cold weather with some stations only reaching 10C (this is from memory i'll add stats later).
This month is much closer to April 2013, which is the month that recorded the previous record heat, from memory it was 33C+ from monday to friday for that week.
Here we go again - A light Easter Weekend Snow for myself. PA Wilds/Southern NY, Adirondacks, and the higher terrain of Vermont and New Hampshire getting a good snow - Maine bracing for a big snow
A particularly nasty storm came through here on the north side of Indianapolis last night. We had a ton of lightning, wind, rain, and hail. Thankfully other than one blip, the power stayed on. But we had piles of hail, half inch to dime size. The wind blew for a long time as well. Our patio furniture is scattered and our plastic storage bin is halfway across the backyard. Elsewhere, the next suburb over had over 3 dozen power poles blown down or snapped in half. Some people could be without power for days. South of Indy, several buildings were damaged including one where the second floor was completely blown off. Officially at the airport, a 71 mph wind gust was recorded. There were two tornado reports but nothing confirmed. Thankfully, I haven't heard of any serious injuries. Now after four days in the 70s (the last two days coming 1F shy of hitting 80), we won't even make it out of the 40s for the next couple of days.

Edit: congrats on the cooldown
I was working on my garden last night, basically putting in wood borders and then I had to drill a hole in them and hammer in a rebar. Lots of work and I sweat profusely but my garden looks good now. Was a nice workout, needed to burn off stay at home calories lol...
Today will be slightly cooler at 87/60 but tomorrow will be much cooler at 71/57.

The only time I visited Australia was Easter 2004 in Melbourne. Melbourne was 20C each day and then one day was 35C then back to 20C. The city went from feeling like London in the summer to Cairo in the summer in one day then back again.
If there's one thing I really dislike it's unstable summer temperatures. Despite the stereotypes the UK has unstable summer temperatures. It can be mostly 18-22 degrees but then get short spells of 30 degree weather suddenly followed by as low as 17-18 and then back to average then repeat the process.
It's autumn here but couldn't find an autumn thread so here's an update for the SW Western Australian Heatwave of Early April:
Perth Heatwave Watch
Perth Metro April Record High is 37.3C on April 8th, 2013; 2013 also had a longish and strong heatwave in early April. April 10 and 11 are the two most likely days of breaking the record. We also have an outside chance of breaking the April record low of 23.4C on the 14th April 1999.
Perth Forecast BoM
April 9 - 33/17- sunny
April 10 - 36/21- sunny
April 11 - 37/22- sunny
Wunderground
April 9 - 33/17- mostly sunny
April 10 - 36/20- mostly sunny
April 11 - 37/23- mostly sunny
The hottest forecasts for the Perth Metropolitan area are in the far NE near Ellenbrook and Pearce AP (a BoM station) with 39C forecast for both the 10th and the 11th (Pearce AP has an April record high of 39.4C also recorded on April 8th, 2013)
Even if no records get broken or tied this heatwave has been very impressive. This heatwave/heat surge started on Monday and is looking to stay until Saturday or early sunday, which is 6-7 days of hot weather. Had a quick search around the state and most towns in the SW corner of the state have forecasts at or very near their April record maxima.
...Perth Metro had its April record high on the exact day that I first rode in a 2013 Honda Accord .
We're not looking to set any record highs where I live any time soon. Highs through Thu, Apr. 16 are all forecast to be sub-70 F / 21 C. Counting today, the forecasts are 65/38, 59/37, 69/54, 66/52, 57/38, 53/36, 59/40, 61/44.
Snow is over performing this morning across the Eastern Great Lakes...steady, moderate snow has covered the grass in the Buffalo and Cleveland metro areas-both of which were not projected to have any accumulation until tonight at the very earliest!
