Still no 80s on the year. Interesting to see 80+ up in the northeast.
I know you use a suburban station, but ATL has hit 80°+ twice so far this year, 80°F on the 13th and 81°F on the 14th

That’s really surprising that you didn’t hit 80s yet. You’ll be there soon though. Only reason we got 80s here was that we had those strong downsloping southwest winds off the mountains which allowed it to dry out and heat up in full sun. Atlanta has no mountains to its west and southwest so it doesn’t get this effect. It’s sort of links the Santa Ana winds in SoCal, which are downslope winds that heat and dry things out, getting rid of the marine layer. Today honestly felt like such a typical SoCal summer day, cool with morning fog that burned off and warm winds that allowed temps to soar.

Fun fact: With a high/low of 81/57, today’s high was 27 degrees above average. If these above average departures occurred in July, the high/low temperatures would be 112/97!

Definitely have plenty of budding here but not tons of bloom yet. Last freeze will be April 2 this year for your area so don’t want to much bloom before that. Once we get past that, say mid-April, we may leaf out and bloom. Forecast low is 32 here so don’t know if we’ll have our last freeze April 2 or March 18.

Perennials all out here with greening up on some trees, hard freeze by late next week with lows back in the 20's.

I use KPDK. It's only about 9 miles from downtown to the NNE. Hartsfield is 8-9 miles from downtown to the SSW so KATL will often be warmer than even downtown might be. And I live in a northern burb so KPDK is definitely closer to my location. 10 miles vs 30 miles. Highest we've been is 78 so far. But that could change today.

Pollen explosion underway. I can tell a big difference in development after just a few days. Pollen count yesterday nearly hit 3,000. Last year our max was close to 9,000 on March 29. We're definitely in kinda that mid spring look where there's still a lot of flowering but some of the earliest flowering trees have already grown out their leaves. Seeing the beginnings of leaf outs on a lot of the mid size trees and even the large ones are getting green. There was one smaller tree outside my apartment that I was starting to wonder about. Its small sibling has a lot of growth but it was still bare. Well I'm starting to see development now. It'll be green pretty soon.

Skilling is insisting that there will be no major cool downs coming for us over the next 2 weeks. Not so sure about that
