So far this is summer cancel; and I thought this summer would follow the "Rule of 11's" and be hot like New York area summers of 1944, 1955, 1966, 1977, 1988, 1999 and 2010.

For anyone who doesn't think UHI and city airports don't skew temperatures look at this. Chicago Executive AP, ORD and Midway airport compared to the rest of Northeast Illinois

The very light showers we had Saturday traced out at the aiporrt so still no measurable rainfall here since June 15. Unless this vorticity develops into something today we will be dry until Thursday at which time there looks to be an excellent chance of rain.

That's absolutely nothing compared to the absurdly ridiculous UHI in Louisville. It gets worse by the year. They literally have 10 degree range of low temperatures and 5-10 degree range for high temperatures now. I'm in a rural area nearly double the elevation of the city and I've had four days above 90F this summer, the city UHI airport has seen 23-24 days already.

Still really gets under my skin that ECCC uses an urban-heat-contaminated station for Edmonton whereas for every other city in Canada they use an airport site. I swear it's done to intentionally inflate Edmonton's temperatures.

The high today was 79F here 78F at ORD and 77F at MDW. A good deal cooler than average but at least it was mostly sunny

In the States many airport stations can be considered heat contaminated such as LaGuardia and even Midway airport. ORD has also seen tremendous urbanization over the last 30 years and their minimum temps are now approaching Midway's which has been urbanized for decades now.

In Canada I would say only the Montreal and Toronto airport sites have any UHI but they pale in comparison to the UHI for the Edmonton site which isn't even at an airport, it's basically in the centre of town. I have no objection to taking measurements there but it makes for an unfair comparison to other cities.
