It’s been nice and warm here. 70s for several days until today, and it was only the relatively high winds (something we’ve uncharacteristically had a bit of in the last couple of months) which made it feel cooler than it actually was today (mid-60s ambient). I’m not really complaining.

Ultimately I guess we'll have to wait and see. This is probably one of the things best resolved by doing just that.

The NBM was pretty accurate for this event. No snow whatsoever here in Victoria but some pretty impressive amounts up island, including down to sea level in places.

We can't even buy a snowflake here

But the 2020-2021 winter also started slow. Remember February? We picked up nearly our normal seasonal total in the span of three weeks! So, our slow start does not mean we'll finish with lower than average snowfall

Quite cold this morning but that won't last long

Big time blow torch coming next week

BUT there is the potential for BIG changes around Christmas

It's a cold morning today in Indianapolis. 17F with a wind chill of 7F. The high will stay in the 20s today with clouds around. Flurries tonight but anything that could possibly accumulate will stay south closer to the Ohio River and even then it'll be on the half inch side of things. No real travel impacts or anything. A quick rebound back near 50 by Thursday and mid-60s on Friday. I swear we usually don't see temperature swings this extreme around here. A quick drop is common but warming back up doesn't seem to happen as often as it seems to be this year.

Im in Reading, PA. Raw day yesterday with rain and 50s but then it came. A cold front. Winds ripped to 35mph at times.

A quiet December day across the region today as Canadian high
pressure builds in following last night`s frontal passage. It will
certainly be a much colder day than Monday, as 850 mb temperatures
tumble to nearly -10C. With our mixing height likely to be close to
or just below that level, that will translate to high temperatures
in the upper 30s to lower 40s, a few degrees below the seasonal
average. While it was quite windy last evening with the cold frontal
passage, with some gusts over 50 mph, this will not be a case where
the strong winds stick around through the following day behind the
front. With the flow being so fast, the high pressure center will
rapidly build in and weaken the gradient, so winds will actually be
rather light today. Partly to mostly sunny skies are forecast,
though mid and high clouds will likely increase later in the day,
especially north and west.

Welp. What had already been a multi-day southward trend in the
frontal wave we`ve been tracking for Wednesday reached a crescendo
overnight. The GFS and NAM essentially completed a cave to the EC
solution, keeping the frontal wave very de-amplified and with nearly
all of its meager precipitation shield missing south. What was
already looking like a very minor event is now looking like
essentially no event at all

Here in Northern Oklahoma the average high so far in December is 69.2 degrees. Overall 10.9 degrees above normal. And its suppose to get back into the mid 70's end of the week. December is running 2.6 degrees warmer than November so far.

Record/near record warm December for many areas even if there is a pattern change near the end of the month.
