Looks like there is a potential ice threat down here later this week. A CAD is expected to crash southward on Friday. The big question will be whether or not there is still precip around when temps drop below freezing Friday evening..”
CAD events are very tricky for models to forecast, so I'm not taking this too seriously yet. I'll wait to see what tomorrow's runs bring.
CAD definitely tricky to forecast. Valleys always hold cold air but any kind of wind mixing down from above can ruin it. Ice is horrible, i dont wish that on anyone
Euro00z holds steady with a big snowstorm virgina to boston. Bit south more than previous run. Gfs still says NO storm
St Simons actually has an official weather station on it, unlike the other coastal islands in Georgia. Will be interesting to see how low KSSI gets tonight.
Googling 'weather kssi' gets a low of 2 Celsius tonight.
I bet Chicago ends up a good 5F below normal maybe more. As of yesterday Chicago is officially -3.4F below normal. Lets see if we can eat away at the insane positive anomaly from this past December which was +7.5F above normal.
All last week the models showed this past storm (Named Izzy by TWC) would move well to our east and NE Ohio would get a couple inches maybe. Then Sunday they upped it to 6-9"...but by the time it ended yesterday, we got 16" in the Cleveland area...some areas over 20".
So I don't trust these models...they totally blew it here.
Bernie Video. Start at 6:45 if you wanna see the GFS-EURO differences regarding this weekends storm. Nothing like a good video to actually see whats happening. Can only do so much with text in a post.
