We may actually get some accumulating snow Sunday morning. Right now, it's looking like an inch of snow in a quick burst Sunday morning. Even just an inch of snow (on January 23) would more than double the amount of snow we've gotten this whole snow season.
lmao what? It was -29F around Peterborough? It's 10F here on the other side of the Toronto area.
Some brutally cold temperatures in Muskoka and the Kawarthas this morning. Minimums in degrees Celsius:
Peterborough -33.7 °C
Bancroft -36.7
Algonquin Park: -37.1
Barrie (Simcoe Airport): -29.2
Muskoka Airport: -33.4
In and around the GTA it looks like the lake effect and the UHI is still in full force with coldest temperatures confined to areas away from the lake. Again, in degrees Celsius:
Uxbridge: -25.5 °C
Oshawa: -26.0
Markham: -22.6
King City: -22.0
Pearson: -19.4
Toronto Island: -17.0
Hamilton: -21.5
Guelph: -27.3
Waterloo: -26.1

I was already pretty thrown off when The Weather Network said it was -15C in Oakville at noon, because when I checked our outdoor thermometer at 11am, it said it was -8.5C, and still said -9.5C at noon and -8.5C again now at 2:45pm.
Even Burlington Lift Bridge recorded -11.9C at 11am and -10.5C at noon, so there must've been some warm pocket right along the lake here. Burlington Lift Bridge recorded a low of -15.8C at 8am.
So far, from my observations, it seems like the lake moderation effect on very cold days (-15C and below) is comparably strong at my house as at Burlington Lift Bridge. I've been checking our thermometer on cold mornings and sometimes the readings and Burlington Lift Bridge are 1-2C colder, sometimes 1-2C warmer, but basically the same, and both are usually 2-4C milder than Pearson. On more moderately cold days (say -5C) the lake seems to have less of an impact, as the temperature is about the same as at Pearson.
During the first frosts in November, the lake/UHI moderation effect hat my house seemed to be weaker than at Burlington Lift Bridge, although still somewhat noticeable when comparing to Pearson and quite noticeable Guelph.
