Not only is this the hottest temperature so far this year in Canada, it's also a February record for the province.

Lots of records and near records in Victoria yesterday and this morning. First and foremost, record lowest temperatures this morning:

Victoria International Airport: -6.0 °C (records date to 1941)
Victoria Gonzales: -3.5 °C (records date to 1898--so wow!)

Also near records for low maximums yesterday February 22:

Victoria International Airport: 1.8 °C (coldest since 1957)
Victoria Gonzales: 0.5 °C (coldest since 1917)

It was also apparently the driest, windiest, and "windchilliest" February 22nd on record. Much nicer today though.

Nice. Kind of snowed in Las Vegas too. Not quite enough to break out the skis but still.

Beautiful satellite photo showing the clear skies over Washington State and southern British Columbia from this morning with fresh snow in the Cascades and Olympics.

Also a map of the low temperatures in the region this morning. Lots of records including Victoria (as mentioned upthread), Seattle 23°F/-5.0°C, and Olympia 14°F/-10.0°C.

Good chance of lowland snow overnight tonight before the cold air gets scraped away.

Had warmest February min temp on record yesterday - low was 72F. High was 81F. Much cooler today behind front that came thru after midnight. Didn't get past 51F this afternoon. Sharp temp gradient to my south with Lafayette, LA reaching 83F today.
