well, well, well. As expected, another day for the books. Top maxs of today from across the north of the country.

Jumial Grande - 46,9°C
Pozo Hondo - 46,6°C
Rivadavia - 46,5ºC
Monte Quemado - 46°C
Sachayoj - 45,7°C
Santiago del Estero - 45,6ºC
Malbran - 45,4°C
Posta Zalazar, Fma - 45,2°C
Los Juríes - 44,8°C
Pampa del Infierno - 44,7°C
Bandera - 44,6°C
Ingeniero Juárez - 44,5°C
Las Lomitas - 44,4ºC
P. Roca - 44,1°C
Lavalle - 44°C

In particular Santiago del Estero broke its January record. And in Paraguay one station had a reading of 45.6ºC wich is a new national record for them. The bolded stations were even hottest than anywere in Australia. That's a rare feat to see during January.

Toasty here yesterday by the local standard with 27C max and a 20.5C dew point - compounded by no wind and a glaring sun with a UVI of 14.

Haha....unreal how we all view our home town climates....Xmas Day in Darwin hovered around 25c and rained most of the day, before peaking at 27c after dark. We all sat under the verandah complaining how 'chilly' it was !

Yep, part of the fascination of any climate, anywhere...... few things better for weather folk, than getting to experience and/or acclimatise to another climate.

It does get hotter here of course, but the combination of dew point , UVI and no wind certainly made shade desirable.

Sea temperatures warm by the local standard, with offshore temperatures at around 20-21C, and still another two months before warmest seas.

Cooling down here for a couple of days with temps forecast at 13C/22C - about 3C cooler than the average of late.

Forecasted to get even warmer after that and it seems like it's going to be above average for the whole summer.

A nice photo that was in the paper yesterday showing the local beach.

What GFS sees from day 5 onwards is absolutely IN-SA-NE. Never seen anything like it before over here, total madness. Of course I don't buy it at all yet, but if that scenario doesn't bust...would be somewhat close to that berzerk PNW heat wave scale from last year. Wait and see how it develops.

This is what I meant when I said: "never seen before"
