I heard it was 119F today in Phoenix, a new record for this date and the 4th highest ever.

It looks like possibly the streak of 110+ could end next week...

Sky Harbor tends to be a good 4 degrees warmer than Falcon Field (Mesa) during the day and 7-8 degrees warmer than Falcon Field at night. That concrete must really heat the downtown up.

Does anyone have any data on how many times Falcon Field has gone above 110 F so far this year? It has to be far fewer than Sky Harbor.

10 times, sky harbor 22 times. Elevation difference would add 1 degree to SH. Other 3 are because of all that concrete.

They said it was hotter 50 years ago and from the data they gave this is going to be number two record wise.

Hotter for Phoenix? Month, year? Your statement is vague.

The above is not true:

https://www.currentresults.com/Yearl...emperature.php

7 of the last 13 years the highest temp of the year was 118 or above.

From 1951-1988 it happened only once in almost 40 years. Now why its hotter can be debated. Urban heat island, the growth in size of SH Airport. A general warming trend of the the globe.

3 consecutive days of record breaking daily high temps for Phoenix as of today, plus of course the 110+ streak continues.

The minimum lows for Phoenix are very high too but may be attributed by UHI effect. Not even Iranshahr, Kuwait or Basrah are that hot at night despite higher maximum temp.

Another Arizona record. In Tucson they have had 14 days of 110 or above. The old record was 9 times. They have 8 in a row going on right now. But that streak might end today.
