This is starting to look a lot like the Feb 2021 cold wave.

Not here or back then. It was 80's and 90's in Feb 2021 here.

some of the heavier snowfall totals yesterday were in the west/northwest suburbs

A lot of ground is now snow-covered over the lower 48

Temps are going to crash bigtime

Euro still with the ridiculous snowfall totals

German model is more realistic but still showing over a foot of snow coming

GFS

Those model runs would give an epic snowstorm for my area if they come true. A western shift would really screw us up.

Wild pattern happening!

Storm #3 incoming.

Latest models shown here for 7pm Friday timeframe.

GFS and German slightly faster with the Low as Canadian and Euro has it south more at this time. Chicago looking good for a blizzzard. ~980mb Storm...again

Chicago and NY never had a big snowstorm with the same storm system.. I challenge someone to find it.

Lake cutters stink! Lol

Similar stats to us. We got 0.84" liquid equivalent and about 3.5" snow accumulation.

After another week of not seeing the sun, it's starting to punch through the clouds a bit. As in clouds are still covering the whole sky but they're thin enough that you can tell where the sun is located. And that's the most sun we've seen in the past week...

The forecast for next week is looking increasingly cold. Maybe January won't be an above average month after all.

Looks like Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport had a 1C lucky near miss this morning. It is certain now, the January 11 2016 record for latest ever first frost will be beaten by at least a day and the longest frost-free season will be around 1 1/2 months over the previous record.

This is to say nothing of the cold that will follow across lots of the Southeast US weather monitoring areas. I think some of the forecasts will underperform (ie: Oklahoma City and Dallas) based on what I have seen before of similar forecasts, other places (like Houston, and the 4C/-8C for Alexandria that ral31 mentioned earlier) seem more likely to have their forecasts materialize.
