When will snow return to lowlands of Central Europe? Most of Poland hasn't had any snow cover since January 24.

Do you have the link for these graphs?

It's possible for Anchorage that it's the record "so far". Definitely not for Valdez.

Here are snowfall records for Anchorage.

Valdez has over 100 years of snowfall data. https://wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?ak9686

Yeah, that's the problem with those graphs. They're only covering/comparing the last 4 years. This fact is more evident at the following link:

Alaska is very strange when it comes to weather/climate data. It's one of the very few states that does not allow access to it's data. Or rather somebody is preventing this.

Do you have access to that data? I would love to see it.

That link does not have it.

I haven't been able to find it. Got to be out there somewhere though because this guy did in 2017:

Valdez, AK February Climate Extremes – Thompsonpass.com

"Most Snowfall(inches for February)

1996 – 180

2002 – 107

1964 – 104

1994 – 100

2013 – 96

I've been trying since 2010 to access the data. I used to think it was incompetence, but after 13 years I am starting to think it's nefarious.

Why? (he cleverly wrenches this back on topic)

Winter 2023-2024 (this topic)

From 2010

Snowiest City
#1: Valdez, AK

Average yearly snow: 297.7"
Snowiest month: December (67.6")

OK, no source provided, but let's give Jonathan Erdman, Editorial Meteorologist the benefit of the doubt. He's looked at all the snow records, and December has the highest snow amount.

Whoa.

Something doesn't add up here., When all the data isn't available, things are mysterious.

That shows 2023 accumulation through Dec. 30 as 108". I'm assuming this includes October and November. (although it looks to be starting at zero. How could that be?) If if it was only for the month of December, this still wouldn't be a record.

From my previous source, here are the top snowfall amounts in Valdez for December alone.

"Snowiest Decembers with over 100”

1991 -137

1989-125

1988-110

1994- 125

1955-109

1979-105

1976-102"

That's snowfall from Dec 1 2023 to Dec 31 2023, nothing else.

Anyone can use the NWS NOW data

https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=afc

You can set it to look at any time period.
