Victoria, Australia
THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL OUTLOOK
Updated at: 6:55pm

Monday Evening: No storms.

Tuesday: High pressure will be over the Tasman Sea with ridges extending over Victoria. An upper level disturbance is likely to be over South Australia and will slowly approach western Victoria during the day, reaching the northwest later in the afternoon and then western areas at night. There is the risk for an isolated thunderstorm with that. No severe activity.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Wednesday: The high pressure system will remain over the Tasman Sea. The upper disturbance will be over all of Victoria and isolated thunderstorms are possible from this. There is the small risk for severe thunderstorms.

Thursday: A new high pressure system is likely to move into the Great Australian Bight. The upper level disturbance is expected to remain over Victoria at this early stage, and that may result in isolated thunderstorms generally over any part of Victoria, however the disturbance should contract eastwards as the day progresses. Small risk for severe thunderstorms.

Friday: The high pressure system will move over eastern parts of the Great Australian Bight, extending into Victoria. Too much stability in the atmosphere should cause thunderstorms.

Saturday: The high pressure system should extend from the Great Australian Bight to the Tasman Sea. No thunderstorms expected.

Sunday: The high pressure system should move into the Tasman Sea as a new high southwest of Western Australia extends through the Great Australian Bight and into western Victoria. No thunderstorms expected.

Monday: The high pressure system should only slide a little more eastwards to be south of Western Australia, extending through the Great Australian Bight and into Victoria. No thunderstorms are expected.

Tuesday: The high pressure system should move over the southeast of Australia (Tasmania and Victoria) extending into the Tasman Sea. No thunderstorms.

NEXT UPDATE: Tuesday, 5:00pm-7:00pm

THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL OUTLOOK
Updated at: 8:47pm

Tuesday Evening: High pressure will remain over the Tasman Sea and instability will continue to increase over the west of the state. There is the risk for isolated thunderstorms in the western areas overnight, but only a slight chance and no severe activity is expected.

Wednesday: The high pressure system will remain over the Tasman Sea. The upper disturbance will reach the western parts of the state during the afternoon and evening, acting as a trigger for possible isolated thunderstorm development over the western districts. Cloud cover may dampen possible development at first, however it is expected to clear. There is the small risk for severe thunderstorms over the west also with perhaps damaging winds.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Thursday: A new high pressure system is likely to move into the Great Australian Bight. The upper level disturbance is expected to contract to eastern and northeast parts of Victoria, and with this isolated thunderstorms are possible through those areas and there is the very small chance for severe thunderstorms.

Friday: The high pressure system will move over eastern parts of the Great Australian Bight, extending into Victoria. Too much stability in the atmosphere to cause thunderstorms.

Saturday: The high pressure system should be over Victoria and the Tasman Sea. No thunderstorms expected.

Sunday: The high pressure system should move into the Tasman Sea as a new high southwest of Western Australia extends through the Great Australian Bight. No thunderstorms expected.

Monday: The high pressure system should move into the Great Australian Bight. No thunderstorms are expected.

Tuesday: The high pressure system should move southeast of Tasmania and extend into the Tasman Sea. Moisture levels are expected to increase slightly, however no thunderstorms are expected.

Wednesday: The high pressure system will be in the Tasman Sea. There should be some moisture available in Victoria and there may be some type of system approach the west later in the day. At this stage, no thunderstorms are expected.

THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL OUTLOOK
Updated at: 6:06pm

Friday Evening: Scattered thunderstorms developed over northern parts of the Wimmera early this morning and then moved southeast, developing into a severe line, over Melbourne. Another two severe lines of thunderstorms developed near Ballarat and passed over Melbourne. Scattered thunderstorms are still occurring over nearly the entire eastern districts, including the Northeast, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland areas. The Bureau of Meteorology issued severe thunderstorms for most parts of the state today and are still current for eastern areas. A high pressure system will remain southwest of Western Australia as a wind change continues its progression through Victoria. Scattered thunderstorms are likely to continue over eastern districts tonight before gradually clearing overnight. Severe thunderstorms are likely - damaging winds and large hailstones will be the biggest risk.

Saturday: The high pressure system will remain south of Western Australia, extending into the Great Australian Bight. The wind change is now expected to be clear of the state so no thunderstorms are expected.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Sunday: The high pressure system will continue its slow movement south of Western Australia, extending into the Great Australian Bight. A cold front is expected to move through Bass Strait, particularly later in the day. No thunderstorms are expected.

Monday: The high pressure system will move into the Great Australian Bight. No thunderstorms are expected.

Tuesday: The high pressure system will be in the Great Australian Bight, extending over Victoria. No thunderstorms expected.

Wednesday: The high pressure system will be over eastern parts of the Great Australian Bight, extending over Victoria. No thunderstorms are expected.

Thursday: The high pressure system will be over the southeast of Australia. No thunderstorms expected.

Friday: The high pressure system will be over the Tasman Sea. There is the chance that a frontal system will reach the southwest of the state later, and if that occured there would be the risk for isolated thunderstorms over the west. No severe thunderstorms.

Saturday: The high pressure system will remain in the Tasman Sea. If there is a frontal system, it will continue its progression through southern Victoria and isolated thunderstorms would be possible. No severe thunderstorms.
