Bench, leg presses, squats, and dead-lifts are the best for toning up your body. Also eat and sleep properly.

Lifting won't get you much further than cardio. Cardio will be much more beneficial for weight loss. I know people who just pump iron and stay chunky with terrible heart shape.

Bike riding or a sport like tennis is the way to go If you want to lose weight. Tennis is great as you still build muscle and lose weight. Going on long bike rides works wonders too.

for long bike rides, make sure to eat enough or you'll bonk. One of the worst cases of bonking, I could barely make it up a hill and wanted to fall asleep at the side of the road. A long bike ride will burn 3000 calories, don't eat enough carbs and your body can't make enough glucouse to keep up.

Wrong, sorry.

Weight loss: calories in < calories out.

Aerobic exercise does burn calories but the effect it has on your metabolism is negligible compared to heavy strength training. In addition, lifting trains your muscle at an incomparably faster rate, allowing you to lift harder and harder i.e. burning an increasing number of calories when you work out.

Lifting also burns more fat while retaining more muscle when dieting.

Now, if you lift and still eat like an hippo, obviously you will stay fat or even get fatter (but still build muscle though).

Weight loss can be achieved by a proper diet alone, more efficiently when combined with cardio, and even more efficiently when combined with resistance training.

That being said, cardio IS excellent for your general health, just not the fastest route to weight loss and looking good.
