We are taking a trip to Wellington and surrounding areas for a day and wondered if anyone had any recommendations on where to go for sightseeing. Anything unique in the area that is worth driving to and spending an hour or two? I know about the Lion Safari but I don't think my company would be too interested in that this time. Any help would be great.

Wellington and RPB is not known for attractions, it's the suburbs and sprawl of developments, retail and restaurants and in Wellington aside from Horse related events which are seasonal and not always going on...that is Polo, Jumping and etc..there isn't much to see if your not into the Lion Country thing, a few nature trails and etc...

Other than that there is Yesteryear Village at the Fairgrounds

About the Park | South Florida Fair

Only other thing I can think of is the 9/11 Memorial off of Forest Hill with some of the WTC beams and etc. but there is a few of those around South Florida and elsewhere...

Patriot Memorial - Wellington,FL - 9/11 Memorial Sites on Waymarking.com

Plenty of shopping and dining, the Wellington Green Mall is at the corner of 441 and Forest Hill..

Most everything else in the County is in downtown WPB, Palm Beach and elsewhere....that is historic and cultural spots...

Flagler Museum

Lion country is the only major tourist destination in the western communities. Flagler museum on palm beach, to the east might be a better idea.

When I was in Florida earlier this year, I went to Wellington since they had a horse event where people came from all around the world to compete. Similar to the agility my dog does, but horses. I don't recall the name of the place but it was a large outdoor venue. Maybe there will be some horse shows coming up that you all could go to and it would be a sure bet to see those beautiful animals and all that they can do.

Usually between Oct and April is when the Equine Events are going on in full steam.. Winter Equestrian Festival and Polo, primarily at the PB International Equestrian Center off of Pierson Road and South Shore and Polo at the International Polo Club they do have some events at the Jim Brandon Center across from Okeeheelee Park but that's not technically Wellington and it's quite quiet during the off season. They also have Dog Agility Events there occasionally.
