I lived in a equestrian area that was nice and I was robbed, I moved to a gated community that was nice and was robbed again. So there are pockets but mostly its just the people. I'm from NJ and crime was spread out due to the pockets of people not so much the places.

EVIL has no boundaries. you can buy an expensive home behind the gate with the watchy man and still find crime in your block. child porn, grow house, man who beats wife, kids high on drugs, and some drunk with 10000 guns., and the poor do not get robbed---False sense of security.

3 thugs tried to rob a house down the street from me at 9 in the morning a few days ago. I'm in a supposedly "good" neighborhood.

This is the 2nd time in a couple of months this happened in broad daylight.

Good thing lots of neighbors take morning walks and carry cell phones!

were these cretins at least apprehended? that is so awful!! what is wrong with people?!? at least your neighbors sound like good folk. this area could be so great if people could just behave themselves.

^^^ Thanks Yep, Lakeside is generally a safer street! There have been some memorable crime events there over the last 10 years, though...

Crime is generally underreported and it is worse than we know. The reason it is worse is due to drugs. Florida has a serious drug problem. Drugs make people do really stupid things, like doing serious crime for either little gain or no gain. Professional criminals seldom pose a threat to most folks, the druggies are unpredictable and follow no logical path as are the crazy mentally challenged among the citizenry.
