I would not look nor live in the Gallery. I have friends that live there and visiting them is miserable. Homes are too close together, foreclosures are problematic, the homeowners assoc. is lax on handling major problems and militant about those that do not matter, like family parking on the street. Run, don't walk!
I have lived in Martinsburg Station for almost 3 years and love the community. As you will find any and everywhere people complain when they are not satisfied with themselves personally and need someone or something to take it out on. The community is beautiful and the people are generally very good people. It is good to come home late and feel safe. There are few places one can live and not be afraid to walk out doors after dark. As for the use of the clubhouse, one should expect to pay a small fee to use the facilities, if for no other reason to maintain the clubhouse. There are always things we would like to see different, but I think I will get more involved with my community before I complain. Come by and visit Martinsburg Station and decide for yourself.
Looking for a small house to buy or a decent place to rent for my daughter who is going to SU. She wants to be within a 20 minute commute of the school. I want her to be in a safe neighborhood. Would appreciate your thoughts on areas that would be good and those to avoid. Do you think we can find something to purchase in a decent neighborhood for around $50K? We are thinking foreclosure or short sale. I appreciate your help and ideas.
You would be lucky to buy a small piece of land for that within 20 minutes of Shepherd especially in a good hood. Then still have to build the house. I would think she should be able to find shared rentals through the school.
Oops, you're right. It was Toll Brothers. They haven't built there in a while. Given West Virginia's lackadaisical zoning/planning laws, that would concern me.
This has nothing to do with Martinsburg Station per say, but I recently noticed on S&A Homebuilder's website that they are no longer building in the Martinsburg area. S&A built in Princeton Shoals, Fernwood, and Bridle Creek. I noticed recently that S&A sold their lots in communities in nearby Greencastle and Waynesboro to Dan Ryan Builders, but I'm not sure what happened in Martinsburg. They seem to have kept their lots in Chambersburg.
