Peekskill is not a place where you will want to invest your money in a home, in the few years before we moved our neighborhood was becoming over run with illegal immigrants, which the city turned a blind eye to. If and when the time comes to sell your home you will have a very limited market, and more than likely it will be people with a lower income. Ossining is not much better. Although you don't mind diversity, it's a sad fact that it brings down the value of your home. I wish it weren't so, but it is. People with lower incomes can barely afford to pay the mortgage on their homes let alone maintain them. There are rundown homes in practically every neighborhood, which will have an adverse effect on your property values. Same for the schools in those areas. Peekskill and Ossining have more than their fair share of poverty. And there are a whole class of people, middle and upper income that will avoid those places like the plague. Same for Yonkers, Mt. Vernon, Elmsford, and Greenburgh. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere Putnam Valley, Cortland, Mahopac, anywhere but there. The farther north you go the better except for Poughkeepsie, or Newburgh. Unfortunately for you the commute will be longer. As for me I no longer live in New York State, and I thank God for that.

hi, I just ran across this message board. I was looking for some info on the villa. I am thinking about maybe buying a 1 bedroom in the old schoolhouse turned condos and was wondering if this is a good part of peekskill. the building seems solid and from what I am seeing with my eyes it looks great. any information I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Briefly looked at buying one of the smaller units there as an investment, but got priced out. Did think it was odd that HOA didn't include access to pool/tennis courts. Don't have any specific information on how the Villa is run/kept up, but to my knowledge, that area of Peekskill is fine.
Peekskill had a very well attended music festival last Sunday. Downtown is really looking great. An incredibly cool restaurant had just opened (they were only serving liquor) in which the owners had dumped A TON of money into. That street is lined with restaurants. It reminds me of Nyack. I was very impressed.
