Damn, I'm sorry, I was using that in the "person" vein but should have been more careful/specific!

This is why it's hard to answer your question as you have so little information for us to go off.
What do you value?

I wouldn't want to live up north, but I like a more diverse geographical area, specifically woods, water, AND farmland. Someone else may want shorter views, and less water, so the hilly areas of SW wisconsin would be nice. But they are gay, look down on non urban people as uneducated and are very active in the democrat party, so then some place closer to the twin cities or madison would fit their bill better.

So get a list of what you value in the order you value them, then look on a map, then start taking road trips.

There's too many places to pick from to be able to pick just one. Anywhere along lake Michigan would be my choice. You know what I would pick.. it's not in the middle of nowhere but it's a nice little small town and it 'feels' secluded... Belgium. Close to the lake, close to Harrington Beach State Park, and along a nice bike path with plenty of scenic area around, and not far from good shopping and jobs. That may not be rural enough for you though.

I'm not sure how much of the lake-shore has high bluffs but one reason I like lake Michigan south of Harrington beach into Port Washington and Grafton is the nice high bluffs which make it seem nice and secluded. You don't see houses and people in yards, just the lake and bluff.... and Port Washington's bluffs and the park area on top of them is pretty, as is the "lions den's gorge nature preserve" which has steps that go down to the Lake from the park.

Oh... and you can park outside of Harrington beach state park and then walk into the park.. without a sticker. If I lived in state I'd buy a sticker and support the local parks.. but I don't. My father lives in Grafton and takes advantage of this all the time though. It's the only state park he really frequents to any degree.

I'd vote for Tomahawk. Love the forest and big pines. Lovely any time of year. Lakes all over the place. Just can't get my family to make the move.

I've actually thought about moving to Belgium but you're right, it's not quite rural enough for me. There are some very lovely places all throughout Ozaukee county, actually. When I'm in different towns throughout the county, there is a nice calm, almost country feel to them. Many places in the county seem very serene to me. Even the more "happening" towns like Cedarburg and Mequon.

Too bad you're held captive by your family.
When we moved here, that area was one of the places we considered, but it was a little too far north for us. We wanted to stay just south of the northwoods. Wausau would have been about perfect....about.

I prefer the northwoods if real estate cost, jobs, and taxes were of no consideration. By north I mean Vilas county preferably- the northern portion of the county north of Eagle River and Manitowish Waters.

Well if jobs weren't a consideration, I'd live in the smokies, blue ridge mountains. Or Idaho.
But until I win the lotto.......

In your opinion, where are some of the best places in WI that offer all 3 (Woods, Water and Farmland)? I would actually love to have all 3 as well.
