Oh yeah, MSNBC said it was angry white males bringing guns to a protest for a black president... but when the real story came out it was actually a black guy. MSNBC aka Obama News Channel.

PS: It's legal to conceal guns in AZ and every other state other than WI and ILL.

.....But to answer the post WI is not even close to Conservative, maybe geographically but not in terms of population.

I have no idea where this thread has gone, the topic may have changed entirely; but, those kinds of people are everywhere unfortunately. I spent a week in SE Ohio last year and it was shocking how many people were blatantly racist and said absolutely horrible things...I guess they assumed that since I'm white I was one of them. I've lived all over the world, including WI for 20 years....there were some rude, obnoxious people but no more than I've met in Ohio and no more than I meet now that I live in the south!

My daughter is gay and lives in Oshkosh and she and her partner have no problems in their community.

Disagree.

Although Gay Rights is an area of Civil Rights that's lacking in rural areas, for sure.

My guess is that he was doing or saying *something* to cause all that rudeness and obnoxiousness. If it was that bad, it didn't happen for nothing.
If he doesn't visit again, that would probably be OK with most of us.
This is really silly, so if it is obvious someone is gay they are even more vulnerable and according to your response deserving of rude or crude behaviors from other people?

Actually if he does visit again, I would hope his experience is more positive and that he would meet people who are not in your like mind. Hopefully the most of "US" you are talking about equal the number of broke down cars in your yard.

Are you kidding, how are gay people supposed to be more of anything than you or anyone else is. We are all human and wired with emotions that relate nothing to our sexuality, race, creed, or religion. Everyone has the right to feel the way they do, nomatter right, wrong, or indifferent.

I have seen thousands of non-democratic protesters over the years. Ever been to a Gay Pride event in any city, there are ALWAYS conservative bible thumpers with bullhorns and posters, I have seen this for almost 20 years now all over the country. I have also been handed many a flier describing the interests of one religious group or another protesting a variety of issues from abortion to gay rights, non of whom presented themselves as democrats. I also saw the gun toters last week on the news and no, they were not democrats either.

Liberals may seem more vocal because the noise from the other side is so much more constant and ever present that a loud cry for change is the only way to even crack the door to change open.

Why would you say "not even close?" It's a swing state. It's probably in the top 3-5 on the GOP "hit list" in 2010.

It may be blue at the moment, but that's hardly uniform. It could flip under the right circumstances. WI is artificially "kept" blue by minority populations, college areas (many, MANY college areas), a handful of left-leaning suburbs, and a handful of artsy-fartsy small towns.

Low turnout by any of these groups/places, combined with a non-embarrassing GOP candidate (say, Romney), would probably flip it red.

I won't comment about the "rudeness, obnoxiousness and judgementality" in the OP, except to say it's a obviously a subjective, blanket statement.

I've lived in Madison and in the Milwaukee suburbs. For women, unlike the south, it's very hard to make friends. People stick to their relatives and old friends and those they "accept". Very cliqueie and very boring to say the least, not fun at all. Everyone knows Madison is liberal and Milwaukee suburbs are conservative. No clue what Milwaukee is, probably both.

There is a strong labor/union presence in Milwaukee after all these years, and years ago, a socialist mayor. It's basically blue. Except for the suburbs. We moved here and made plenty of friends. Enderis Park is the best. I've never had so many awesome neighbors.

That's nice. You're an exception. Are you male or female? They love their males here.
