Okay, I normally don't post in here, but I'm looking for advice and maybe some wisdom.
Here's the situation. I am a teacher and also a coach within the same large urban school district. That said, I do not coach at the same school where I teach but instead coach at my alma mater (I am the Head Cross Country coach and an Assistant Coach for Track and Field). The District has a policy on coaching that if someone cannot be found in the school who both wants to coach and has certain qualifications, then anyone can coach in that school, that is how I am holding the position. Someone new has come into the school where I coach and told me that they plan to put in for the head coaching position for next year (this year they are also assisting the T&F Team). Now because of the District policy favoring having coaches in the building no matter what, it appears as though I'm SOL. How would you handle the situation, especially as many of the current athletes have said they have no desire to run for the other coach?
