At my last dream job at Jacobs ESCG, it was a quick 35 min drive down 45 from my Medical Center Apt to Jacobs in Clearlake, TX. Not much traffic going home. So I often had time to do a 1 hr road bike workout, check emails, browse the web, and rarely play video games. But I was on my computer till 10 pm. It was was if I was still web browsing at 10:30 because my mind would be too active and then it would be hard to sleep. So I often slept at 10:30 and woke up at 6:50 am. Always ate a quick breakfast of milk and pastries - like cookies or cakes or brownies... fast and no time wasted to cook. So I drove off to work at 7:15 and got their in time before 8 am. It was a dream job for me but it only lasted 10 months. If I was still working there now I'd have a paid off condo and I'd be driving a bmx 330 Ci probabgly a 2003 to 2005 model.

But being unemployed, I sleep between 9 to 10:30 pm, and wake up from 4 to 8 pm. If I sleep early at 9pm I wake up at 4 am. So I browse the computer for awhile then go back to take a nap. Well, that's the only luxury you get being unemployed, you can enjoy all the sleep that you want. And I love sleep.

I messed up my 2nd semester of college trying all nighters or late night studying. Started falling asleep in class. Found out my BIG mistake is that I need good sleep to do well in college... So my grades suffered that semester. Next semesters I took a light enough class load to get good sleep. Maybe 12 to 14 hrs.

So how about you? How much sleep do you get with your schedule?

I usually aim for 7 or 6 hours and reach it. I work long shifts sometimes days back to back and my job is fast paced and requires a lot of attention to detail so i need to be alert and on top of my game. Last week being in NY and having to stay in the hotel due to Sandy and working 12 hours for several days in a row I got much less though. Sometimes I find though we must, due to just living we may have to short ourselves. This is fine for a night but after several nights it does have an impact.

5-6 hours. I should be asleep right now and I'm browsing the web and listening to Pandora. I'll regret it in the morning but whatcha gonna do.

Normally 7 hours, but I'm watching the election coverage tonight so it will probably be closer to 6.

Aim for at least 7. Feels good to get 8. Can function of a few 6 hour nights in a row but it will catch up to me.

Less than 5 and I'll start to feel very tired during the day. But if I get 1-2 hours, my body goes into some mode where I don't feel tired at all, just sorta light headed. Can't do two 1-2 hour nights in a row or I'll probably do something stupid.

I wake up at 3 AM and have to pee, but can't go back to sleep afterwords and so I end up with 4 hours a sleep a night. I am so tired most of the time.

It depends, but usually 5-6 hours during the day (I work nights). I usually have stuff to do during the day so I can't sleep all day, plus I have conference calls in the morning so I often don't go to bed until 10-11am. And I tend to wake up in the middle of it to stay on top of email, phone calls etc especially when I am on call (my coworker and I rotate). I catch up on the weekends. And sometimes I sleep until about 20 minutes before I have to leave for work...I hate those days

It does suck, but I've gotten used to it, in college I never slept either since I worked full time and attended school full time for a large part of it (or I worked part time and attended school full time). So I have had screwy sleep for 6+ years and I'm sure it will stay that way for awhile...comes with the territory

If you're unemployed and can sleep, I'm happy for you. I am unemployed and so stressed out I no longer sleep well.

Typically between 6 and 7 hours each night in a work week. I go to bed between 10:30 and 11 p.m. each night and get up between 5 and 5:30 a.m. each morning...usually closer to 5 a.m. Get up, make a pot of coffee, read the news online, check/answer emails, check my schedule for the day, take a shower, turn on FOX 10 AZ Mornings to get my local news and weather report, decide whether I want to have a light breakfast at home or go have breakfast somewhere before work, decide what vehicle to drive based on weather conditions, and hop on the nearest interstate exit. I arrive at work between 8:30 and 9 a.m. each morning depending on traffic.

I don't think I've deviated from that schedule in 5+ years. I'm a creature of habit.

It varies. Anywhere from 4 to 12 hours a day (I work nights). Just depends on how tired I am I guess.
