I don't smoke but I always tell people I do b/c in every job I've had you can always sneak away to grab a smoke, but if you tell everyone you are going to just "take a break" they think you are being lazy. Just use the smokers constant socially acceptable breaks to your advantage. Buy a pack of cigarettes and occasionally stand outside with one hanging out of your mouth but never light it.
Our plant is going smoke free June of 2014 as I believe all the plants are in the country in phases.. meaning no more smoking outside of the break rooms, and we cannot leave the plant during the shift.. so if you smoke, you are probably going to be SOL and have to go without it your entire shift. It's not something that will be up for debate... this is by far the highest paying plant in town so people either take it or take a huge pay cut.

Thankfully they didn't sit anywhere near me. If someone like that sat close to my desk and if they stunk like that on and off day after day....I would resign. First I would inquire about moving my seat to be away from the stinky smoker. But if that didn't work, I would resign without a second thought.
And here I thought you just had that look on your face because I was farting in the elevator... whew good it wasn't me!
Do they still have drug tests in the United States? I sometimes wish we had them here.
Yes.
